Birželio 26 d. 18 val. kviečiame į Kanados menininkų Yael Brotman ir Derek Michael Besant paroda „The Tolling of Reminiscent Bells“ parodos atidarymą Marijos ir Jurgio Šlapelių muziejaus galerijoje.

Paroda, kurios pavadinimas pasiskolintas iš T. S. Elioto poemos „The Waste Land“, kviečia į kelionę po atminties, laiko bei žmogaus santykio su aplinka sluoksnius. Abiejų menininkų kūryboje susitinka grafika, koliažas, instaliacija ir vizualūs pasakojimai, kuriuose asmeniniai prisiminimai persipina su kolektyvine patirtimi, o vaizdai tampa trapiais ryšiais tarp praeities ir dabarties.

Yael Brotman darbuose tyrinėjamos laikinos buveinės, žmogaus kuriamos struktūros ir subtilios kultūros bei gamtos sąveikos.

Derek Michael Besant kūryboje svarbios atminties, atpažinimo, miesto kaitos ir žmogaus poveikio aplinkai temos. Kartu jų kūriniai kuria jautrų pasakojimą apie tai, kas išlieka, kai laikas keičia vietas, žmones ir istorijas.

You are warmly invited to the opening of the exhibition “The Tolling of Reminiscent Bells“ by Canadian artists  Yael Brotman and Derek Michael Besant.

Opening at 6:00 PM on 26 June 2026 at the Marija and Jurgis Šlapelis Museum Gallery (Pilies g. 40, Vilnius).

Borrowing its title from a line in T. S. Eliot’s „The Waste Land“, „The Tolling of Reminiscent Bells“ explores themes of memory, time, and our relationship with the environments we inhabit. Through printmaking, collage, installation, and image-based narratives, the artists create spaces where personal recollections intertwine with collective histories, and where traces of the past resonate within the present.

Yael Brotman’s work investigates temporary shelters, human-made structures, and the delicate interplay between culture and nature. Derek Michael Besant’s practice examines memory, perception, urban transformation, and the ways in which people shape the landscapes around them. Together, their works offer a poetic reflection on what remains when places, stories, and lives are transformed by time.
